THE IMPORTANCE OF TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION. (essay) In this subject we were asked to write an essay, using the shortcuts, references, and the virtual library. It was an interesting start since I didn´t have idea how to use the mentioned searching tools .

An Essay must have an introduction, the development, a conclusion, and the bibliography/references. Essays are short, non- fictional compositions that describe, clarify, discuss or analyze a Topic. 

THE IMPORTANCE OF TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION and ELT.

 

INTRODUCTION

 

In the last years society has been impacted greatly for technology in all its facets. It seems that Technology  will continue its influence in our everyday lives. We live in an era where we are

surrounded by more technology that in previous decades, students nowadays are born immersed

in this environment. Technology keeps developing  as well as the way teachers impart their classes

with this Technological Resources. In this essay we want to explain some of the aspects of the relationship between technology and education and how we have been impacted by this negatively or positively.

 

IMPACT OF MODERN TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION.

 

In the education field today the use of technology is not essential it is necessary, the use of modern devices increase and improve the learning in students in a very different way than the one that they were used to, and it is through a screen and the internet, the internet has opened the opportunity to learn with a countless options, it makes our minds think in a different way than the traditional. The impact of technology in education is divided in two aspects, positive and negative impact we are going through in the next paraghraps.

 

IMPORTANCE OF TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION

 

After the pandemic we realized all the needs and deficiencies with technology, we have discovered new ways of teaching and learning, for this futuristic new era we need to be updated of the use of technology to improve and develop learning and teaching.

“The role of technology in the field of education is fourfold: it is included as a part of the curriculum, as an instructional delivery system, as a means of aiding instructions and also as a tool to enhance the entire learning process. Thanks to technology; education has gone from passive and reactive to interactive and aggressive” (Nagasubramani & Raja, 2018) .

 

POSITIVE IMPACT

 

Some investigations say that learning can be achieved by three forms of interaction, student- teacher, student- student, student- content. Some students prefer assignments and lectures online. A survey says that students see as a benefit being able to study whenever they can and their own pace.

 

NEGATIVE IMPACT

 

This kind of teaching requires a higher level of interativity between instructors and pupils. Some people find it boring have to study by themselves, most of them prefer the traditional classroom classes.

Some express that video calls chats is a difficult way to socialize and exchange ideas. Besides the use of shortcuts, emojies and stickers have influenced negatively the proper writing, spelling and grammar.

Another issue is the lack of focus on students since they are getting extra information from the web and are unable to focus on one thing.

 

CONCLUSION

 

Technology is benefiting education as we have explained, but there will always be aspects that might affect the use of technological resources. An education system holded by the use of technology would be perfect if it wouldn’t depend on it completely. In my opinion, learning should be done in an interactive way away from screens.
